Originally from Wichita, Kansas, John is an MPP graduate of the University of Chicago’s Harris School. A recipient of both the university's International House Graduate Fellowship and Knoll Fellowship, John received his Master of Public Policy degree, with a focus on international development and development economics, in the spring of 2021.
With a career spanning 7 years and 4 continents, John worked for the World Health Organization's East Asia office, the Quebec Delegation of Chicago, the United Nations Development Programme, and the World Bank's Development Impact Evaluation (DIME). Additionally, from 2017-2019 John served in Senegal as a Business Advising Extension Agent for the US Peace Corps.
John now serves as the program manager for the Great Lakes St. Lawrence Governors & Premiers Regional Maritime Initiative. This includes developing programs focused on green shipping, maritime electrification, biofuels, and autonomous ships.
An American who speaks French, Spanish, and Wolof, John's work revolves around aligning incentives between our planet, its people, and their governments in order to build a more prosperous world.
